On March 15, 2013, the US Patent & Trademark Office published Samsung's latest trademark filing for "WatchON," a new feature that was introduced last night during Samsung's Galaxy S4 event. The trademark was filed under four International Classes that namely covers "Application software for mobile phones, smart phones, tablet computers and other portable and handheld digital electronic devices to remotely control televisions, set top boxes." Samsung's trademark being covered for "other portable" devices is likely a reference to a future smart watch. In my view, it's a double entendre in light of its chosen logo. Samsung's trademark also covers ordering TV programs and other likeminded services.
