Today the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted Samsung a patent for a possible future Galaxy Watch. Patently Mobile first covered Samsung's invention in a report back in May 2017 titled "Samsung Invention Reveals a Zoom Camera Lens that Protrudes beyond the Display and a Sub-Display in the Band." You could check out more of the details about this invention here.
In Samsung's patent figs. 11 and 12 show a camera that offers optical zoom capabilities with the lens extending well beyond the watch face. Because of the camera's positioning, it's safe to say that it will be used primarily as a 'selfie' camera.
Samsung notes in patent FIG. 6 above that the watch band #420 may include a sub-display #150. The sub-display may display icons #610-1 to #610-4 each corresponding to each of the UIs on the display screen according to a control command of the processor.
