Microsoft Files for new Xbox 'Series X' Trademark

 

Yesterday Patently Apple posted a report titled "This Thursday Microsoft will Introduce their next-gen Xbox Series X Console at a Live Event." In today's report we cover Microsoft's a figurative trademark filing with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for the Xbox branding of 'X Series.'

Microsoft filed their 'Series X' trademark application under eleven International Classes. The four key classes cover computer hardware and software, video game consoles, entertainment services and video game development services. The other seven Classes appear to cover all-manor of PR categories.

 

International Class 009: "Downloadable video and computer game programs; interactive video game devices comprised of computer hardware and software and accessories, namely, game consoles, game controllers, and software for operating game controllers; electronic devices for accessing global computer and communication networks; computer hardware and peripherals."

 

International Class 11: "Accent lights for indoor use; lighting fixtures."

 

International Class 014: "Watches; jewelry; keychains."

 

International Class 016: "Printed matter and publications; posters, calendars, books, stationery, school supplies, magazines, newsletters, manuals and periodicals relating to the video and computer game industries, general video game and computer game information, and video and computer game hardware, software and accessories; trading cards; writing implements, graphic art reproductions, art pictures on canvas, art pictures."

 

International Class 018: "Bags; backpacks; luggage; travel bags; tote bags; all-purpose athletic bags; attache cases; business cases; duffel bags; fanny packs; school bags; wallets, purses, messenger bags, gym bags, rucksacks."

Which trademark classes a company chooses is very important because the trademark registration will only protect a company's trademark(s) in the very same classes that were identified in the company's original application.
